YEAR ONE EXPERIENCE NATURAL AND BUILT ENVIRONMENTS
Year One and their many helpers had a great time recently, in our local area, looking particularly at a "natural" and a "built" environment. We ventured through the bush down to the Georges River at Freres Crossing and then we looked at how they have tried to replicate this environment in the middle of Park Central. We had a wonderful day and were blest with glorious weather. The children soaked up the wonders of nature and we did not hear one complaint about the long walks or the delayed eating time. The children were excited, enthusiastic, beautifully behaved and supportive of each other. Congratulations Year One - a great day was had by all. Special thanks to our helpers on the day and to those who offered help but missed out this time. We really appreciate your support.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK GRANDPARENT’S DAY MASS

Catholic Schools Week 2012 at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School culminated in a special ‘Grandparents’ Mass and celebration day. The many grandparents present at the mass received a blessing and were recognised for the very important role they play in the nurturing and development of the children. After a beautiful morning tea the children, staff and parents had the opportunity to listen to and be enthralled by personal stories of the past told by grandparent volunteers. The children were amazed of how school and life was like in ‘The Olden Days’.

ANZAC DAY 2012

St Thomas More Catholic Primary School was represented at the Anzac Day wreath laying ceremony at Mawson Park Campbelltown by our school captains David Ryan and Imogen Albany. As a school community we take time to remember all those who have died in war, served and who are serving our country so that we may live in peace and prosperity.

LIFE IN EARLY SETTLEMENT
The children in Year 4 recently visited ‘The Rocks’ in Sydney. The children participated in an informative walking tour of the inner city district . The excursion complemented the unit of work the children were studying about early settlement in Australia. The children enjoyed getting dressed up and visiting the many sites on the tour.

On Sunday 11th March, students from St Thomas More, along with representatives from other Catholic Primary Schools in the Macarthur, led the Stations of the Cross at Maryfields. Both Bishop Peter and Father John, who organises the Stations throughout the Lenten season, were very appreciative of the beautiful way the children presented Jesus’ journey to Calvary.

IT IS TIME TO GET FIT

In preparation for the upcoming St Thomas More Annual Cross Country Carnival, the children are enthusiastically preparing for the challenge by participating in fitness sessions both during their weekly PE lessons and also during lunch time. The Kindergarten children recently met their “Better Buddies”. The buddy system is a great way to help the new kindergarten children settle into school. The Year 4 Buddies also like the responsibility of assisting their new friends.
