It is the practice in St Thomas More Parish for children in Year 3 (or older) to receive the Sacrament of Penance and their First Holy Communion and for those in Year 6 (or older) to receive Confirmation.

Preparation of children for these Sacraments is principally a parental responsibility and a parish-based program supports them in this.

The parish program for each Sacrament consists of an information evening for parents, four one-hour sessions for parents and children and a practice session for the children, held either in the Church or the Parish Hall.  Dates and times for these and for enrolment are advised in the parish bulletin.  A parish team under the leadership of the Parish Priest runs the program.

St Thomas More School supports this program through our Religious Education program, which seeks to extend and support the children’s knowledge and appreciation of each Sacrament.

The Sacramental life of your child is at a very significant stage while they are here at St Thomas More School.  The Sacraments are central to their lives as Catholics and the celebration of the Sacraments is central to all our lives as a Catholic community.
